We’re excited to announce that our Home Educators Sessions are becoming a permanent feature here at The Brick box as part of our commitment to delivering education in a fresh, creative and exciting way that’s accessible to as many home educating families as possible.

Here at The Brick Box we are firm believers in education not indoctrination. We want to inspire the minds of tomorrow to think outside the box through our creative workshops whilst exploring science, maths, art, history, philosophy, team building, literacy and life skills.

Having worked in schools for nearly 10 years we know that mainstream education is not for everyone and being able to transfer what we offer in schools to our Brick Box HQ means we can explore topics with more freedom whilst using over a quarter of a million LEGO pieces rather than what we can fit in the car.

In September our new course will begin. This will be a 7 week course that will bring us through to October Half Term. At this time we will no longer be offering drop in sessions. The only way to secure your space is to book onto the course. The course requires a minimum of 10 children to run and will be limited to 15 in total.

The course is open to all ages and abilities although we recommended that children be at least 4 years old due to the nature of LEGO building. Our activities will match that featuring extra challenges for those with more advanced building skills and knowledge. All abilities are welcome.

Our sessions will run for 90 minutes with the main activity taking up most of that time. At the start of each session there will be some free building time whilst we await everyones arrival but we do encourage everyone to be as punctual as possible so we can get stuck straight in to our activity for the day.

Here is the lineup for our Autumn course running September and October:

Week 1: Maths through LEGO play, we’ll be looking at piece names and LEGO terminology mixed in with learning about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Week 2: The Water Cycle. We’ll be exploring water and it’s properties, discussing how water moves around our world and how to protect a village from flooding. (spare clothes are recommended for this session)

Week 3: The Carbon Cycle. As one of the most important elements on Earth we’ll be looking at all the stages it goes through as it goes from state to state and mixes with other elements. Thankfully we won’t be burning any LEGO but there’ll be plenty of building

Week 4: Setting up a Scientific Experiment. We’ll be discussing what’s required when doing an experiment, how to gather and display the results plus getting to build some awesome LEGO models to experiment with

Week 6: The Economy Game. It’s time to learn about how money works and the free market, or in our case the LEGO piece economy. Who’ll create the best new product and trade their way to become a tycoon?

Week 7: Monthly Madness. Most adults struggle with budgeting so let’s help the kids out with our fun game that gives them a taste of adulting. Will they be able to build a house whilst paying the bills from their monthly allowance of pieces?

Enrolment for our next course is now available. The next course will begins on Monday November 2nd 2026 and Friday November 6th. Heere’s a breakdown of what’s to come:

Week 1: Introduction to LEGO play, we’ll be looking at learning piece names, how to describe what we’re looking for and getting to know each other in our fun filled first week, there’ll be plenty of maths secretly thrown in too!

Week 2: Structural Integrity. We’ll be looking at how building in real life is undertaken and learn about materials that are used for building including their strengths and weaknesses before assembling our own LEGO towers and seeing what happens when there’s an earthquake.

Week 3: The Human Body. This week it’s all about us, we’ll cover an overview of some of the bodies awesome functions including respiratory, digestion and immune systems before talking about how we look after ourselves, building our favourite foods in LEGO

Week 4: Inventing: We’ll be discussing problems the children face in their daily lives before coming up with a plan to solve them before building our wild and wacky inventions out of LEGO. It’s all about thinking outside the box for this week.

Week 5: Bridge Over Troubled Water. Humans have been getting across water in all sorts of different methods since they existed, today we’ll discuss how we can cross before building our own bridges and putting them to the test with weights, this week requires lots of team work and plenty of laughs and hopefully not too many collapses.

Week 6: Out Of This World, We’ll discuss all the things on our planet that allow life to exist before looking at what we’d need to go into space on a voyage to the stars. There’s going to be lots of spaceship building!

Week 7: A Christmas Story. We’ll look at a brief history of where the tradition came from including religious input, commercial influence, symbolic reference and different celebrations all around the world before building what it means to us out of LEGO. Don’t worry we won’t be spoiling any of that festive magic if you get what we mean.

If that sounds right up your little learners street then book your place today. Each child will also receive a Build Your Own Minifigure and certificate upon completion of the course.

As our Home Educators Program continues to grow we’ll be taking on board your feedback and suggestions to ensure we continue to deliver awesome sessions for the children.

Please be aware that younger siblings are complimentary and very welcome to be on site whilst this happens. We do have Duplo to help keep them entertained however if they are taking a seat at the table to be part of the workshop then we will ask for payment.

The above ages are also only recommendations, we appreciate that children develop at different stages and as the parent you know where your child is working to and their abilities. We’re certainly not going to be checking ages at the door, we want to ensure that all children get as much out of these sessions as possible. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we’ll be glad to assist.

If we fail to get 10 children on the course then you’ll be notified and refunded.
